I heard about this on Twitter and it’s really, really good. I’ll probably use it sometimes on here if an image gets compressed weirdly by Tumblr (which I’ve already tried, and it does make pictures look better).
This little surprise treat has brightened my day ten fold. As a huge fan of Grimes’ music and artistry, I was much delighted to find out that she unleashed a previously unreleased track this morning, named REALiTi. Since the track won’t be on her next album, she’s decidede to offer it up as a thank you to all her fans who went out to shows on her Asian tour. Trust me, Grimes, if I lived in Asia, I would’ve been one of those fans out at your shows. With the song comes a captivating video directed by Grimes herself. REALiTi and its video showcases a surprisingly groovy side of Claire Boucher. While there is still plentiful ethereal and wispy qualities to the song, it’s also the most sensually uptempo and smoothly popping song we’ve heard from her yet. I’m reminded of Blood Orange and Solange’s music, but a bit more edgy, a lot more electronic. I’m also utterly mesmerized by Grimes’ carefree and confident dancing in the video, shot in various places on tour, it seems. I’m left wondering when Grimes will finally finish her next album, and when I’ll get to see her live again. Because I really, really want to.
